Sukagawa Fire Festival
The next year, I participate in it.
Huge pillars between 20 and 75 feet tall are burned. There were about 20 total.
Teams parade around with their flags cheering as their pillars burn.
A distant shot of the Sukagawa Fire Festival, gives a better perspective of how big it was.
Remember some of these are 75 feet tall and 8 feet wide.
Though hard to see, these are two men riding horses with flags. They were lit to symbolize something.
The site of the Sukagawa Fire
Festival is where the old Sukagawa Castle once stood,
before it was, ironically, burned to the ground 400 years ago.
