The kitchen area at Higashi. A small fridge on the right, a sink, across the way is where we separate all the trash into 1500 different containers. Burnables, plastics, paper, food, cans, things that start with "J", things made on a Tuesday. Then again they have less land fills than we do. The teacher's room at Higashi. My desk is off to the left. All the teachers have a desk in this office area and go to each class. The students don't move. Salespeople frequently walk through passing out little gifts with their logo on them. If I am at my desk I get skipped, but if not they leave it there. I always act like I can read it and thank them.

On loan from the Guiness Book of World records, are the three slowest computers and the world's slowest internet connection. These three 4Mhz computers with 2K RAM each share a 150 baud connection. It takes 18 minutes to upload a 10K picture. The quaint little Hobara Train station. It's separate from the main Japan Railways system, owned by a private company. So the train and station are small and only a few trains a day. It's a 27 minute ride from my station to here.

hobara-walk.jpg (194560 bytes)

The office at Hobara. My desk is in the bottom right corner beside Ms. Matsumoto. She's walking past it. Maybe she's thinking "where is Ryan Sensei?" A sample of my walk to Hobara High. I ride the train with several students and usually walk with them or near them. I tend to walk faster than them.

Left side of the Higashi school field. Football isn't a sport here so they all share a field. It's huge, and there is no grass. They don't know why. Right side of the same field. There is a track that runs all the way around it. I should probably walk around it sometime.

The students genkan. Pretty similar to the teachers but it's much bigger.
