Tangents for Oct 10th.
I've come to realize a few things about Hell. I believe Hell is individualized for each person. It's basically all the things you hated in life. You have to spend eternity reliving them over and over. For instance, my Hell would be as follows:
I'd have to wake up at 5am and the room would be freezing and I wouldn't want to get out of my warm bed, but I had to get up and go wait in line. At the front of the line would be someone arguing with the Hell clerk about something and totally delaying the line and everyone else would be smoking and blowing it in my face . Then I would make it through and get to my assigned area. Here I would be on a hot beach, it would be about 100 F. I would be naked and then covered in grape jelly from head to toe. After that I would be forced to roll around in the sand and then put on a wool sweater and pants. The sweater would be a turtle neck. I would then have to ride somewhere in a hot car with a bad driver and 5 smokers all of whom don't speak English but want to practice on me anyway. Then after a 10 hour ride with no breaks and no reclining seats and the windows up the whole time we would get there. Here I would have to work on a computer that had 32 Megs of RAM (like this one). It would take exactly nine minutes to boot up and frequently lock up since RAM couldn't process anymore. I couldn't have more than one program open at one time. The whole time I am still wearing the jelly filled wool suit and I'm too hot and now I have to listen to country music. Not the Conway Twitty or Hank Williams stuff, but the new whiny "why did she leave me and my truck, lets go shoot something, I like dogs, yee haw". After the country music I have to listen to English radio where its 24/7 English Lessons. "Tom called Mary and they decided to ride to the store to buy some milk for Jeff". Arrrggggghhhhh.
Wow, that felt good. Very therapeutic.

I have an electric table. I'm not exactly sure why, but I think it has a heater under it. I've seen pictures of tables with blankets wrapped over/under them and I think that's what this is. I don't know how to turn it on or how to control it though. Let me find my camera and I will take a pic. - Ok, I took two. One of the electric table and the other of the blanket wrapped under the table, the top pops off and it fits right over. So I am assuming you stick your feet under it and it heats them up. I have two kerosene heaters so I think Japanese aren't big on keeping house toasty all the time then.
Tangent 3
I often think about my old roommate Steve who now lives in Athens. Before we were roommates I passed him going to class and asked where he was going. He said Japanese and I remember thinking why would anyone want to learn Japanese. It's all squiggly lines and it sounds strange. It's strange how I was against it and he was so into it but I live in Japan. I never would have imagined I would live in a foriegn country, much less Japan.
Tangent 4
The eccentric teacher ET ask me if I have a nice peter. "Do you have a nice peter, maybe in your house". Uhhhh? "You know peter, a nice peter, for peeling potatoes". ha ha ok, yes I do.
Tangent 5
I am incapable of not making noise late at night. I have hard floors and I know the downstairs neighbors can hear me dropping things constantly. I am always super careful, but that will make me make more noise. If I drop the remote, it hits and bounces high three or four times. Boom, bang, bam, smack. I just thought of this because as I reached for the digital camera I knocked my cell phone off the table and it hit the kitchen floor and bounced a few times very loudly. Or I will open my outside door and the screen door will fall off and make a loud ruckus as it hits and bounces all over my porch.
Tangent 6
This could probably go under oddities but I'll add it here. Young children are allowed and encouraged to get to and from school on their own. when I say young I mean I have seen children as young as I would guess 5, 6, or 7 running from trains to buses and vice versa. Even in Tokyo I would see young kids wandering the streets going to and from school and they all had on their cute little outfits. The elementary school kids all wear little outfits and cute little hats. The boys wear sailor hats and an outfit which makes them look like ship captains in training.
Tangent 6
There are a number of people here that remind me of people I know. The Vice Principal at the Friday school reminds me of my grandfather on my father's side. There's a girl in one class that reminds me of a girl I had a crush on in the 3rd or 4th grade. Now I didn't just say I had a crush on THIS girl, I was saying when I see her she reminds me of the other girl. There are other people that remind me of people I've known or am related to. It's quite strange, because you feel a bond with them, but there may not be one. There's one girl at my Friday school that looks 25 easy. EASY. Today she spent the whole class primping her make up. Then she left a pop up mirror on her desk facing her so she could check every few minutes. She's a total Blair from Facts of Life.
